What are the Different Classes of Sex Offenders?

In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the law classifies convicted sex offender by the following levels:

  • Level 1 - are offenders who are at a low risk of re-offending & pose a low risk to the general public; these individual's information is only discoverable by government employees & NOT the general public.
  • Level 2 - are offenders who are at a moderate risk of re-offending & pose a moderate risk to the general public; information regarding these offenders are only available to the public if the classification was after July 12, 2013, for all other information they must refer to their local police department.
  • Level 3 - are offenders who are at high risk of re-offending & pose a high risk to the general public; information regarding these offenders is typically easily accessible by the general public.
